Laura Alexander
Laura Alexander, MA, has been a leader in the nonprofit sector since 1988 – as a consultant, executive director, development director, program director, board member and volunteer.

Prior to founding her own firm, Laura Alexander served as the Executive Director of the Birth & Women’s Health Center for five years, as the Development Director at the Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona for three years, and as the Executive Director of Domestic Abuse Intervention Services in Madison, WI for five years. She also held positions at Native Seeds/SEARCH and Wingspan Domestic Violence Project, both in Tucson.

Laura Alexander holds a Master’s Degree in Philanthropy & Fund Development from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. Her master’s thesis, Fundraising for Social Change: Fund Development Capacity Building for Small, Grassroots Nonprofits in Southern Arizona, outlined successful ways for communities to work in partnership with nonprofits to achieve sustainable results.

Laura Alexander is an active member of the Southern Arizona Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She is married to Fabian Alfie, a Professor at the University of Arizona, and has a daughter, Cecilia, who was born in 2003. She has lived and worked in Tucson since 1997.
Jenny Carrillo
Jenny Carrillo, MA, CFRE, co-founded Alexander | Carrillo Consulting with Laura Alexander after seven years of independent consulting through her firm Beyond Fundraising. Throughout her nearly 20-year career in the non-profit sector, Jenny has earned an outstanding reputation for planning and executing effective fund development strategies for a variety of organizations. Prior to her work as a consultant, Jenny served as Director of Development for Arizona’s Children Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tucson, Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation and the Shanti Foundation [Tucson] as well as public relations positions with Up with People [Denver, CO] and Youth Service America [Washington, DC].

Jenny received her Master of Arts degree in Philanthropy & Development through St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. Her thesis focused on how organizations make the transformation from “fundraising” to “development.” Jenny has also achieved the professional credential of Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) by demonstrating proficiency of professional practice, performance, education, service and a commitment to ethical fundraising. She served as President of the Southern Arizona Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) in 2005. In 2006, Jenny received AFP’s Southern Arizona Chapter’s Outstanding Fundraising Professional award.

She is married to a fifth-generation Tucsonan, Leo Carrillo. They are proud parents of daughters Quincy and Carson.
